Flow of Diagnosis

1. The power windows system and rear window defroster system are Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controlled systems.
2. Verify the customer concern by operating the power windows system or rear window defroster system.
3. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage:

Mechanical
^ Damaged window regulator electric drive
^ Damaged window
^ Damaged heated back window grid

Electrical
^ Fuse(s)
^ Damaged wiring harness
^ Loose or corroded connector(s)
^ Circuitry

4. If the concern is not visually evident, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and perform the On-Demand Self-Test. Record the results and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
