Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify customer concern by operating the audio system.
2. Visually inspect the following components of the audio system.

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical Electrical

- Damaged audio components -Blown fuse(s):
- Damaged radio speaker - 7.5A AUDIO
- Damaged electric antenna assembly - 1OA AUDIO
- Damaged or binding antenna mast - 20A AUDIO AMP
- Broken or loose wiring - 10A RELAYS
- corroded or poor connections
- Damaged connectors
- Damaged audio components
- Damaged radio speakers

3. Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections, or damage.
4. If fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Diagnosis by Symptom

NOTE: Internal diagnostic examination of the radio chassis and amplifiers should be left to the authorized radio service center. However, the automotive technician should be able to analyze and isolate radio chassis conditions to the proper area or component causing the condition. All radio chassis conditions can be isolated to one of five general areas. The trouble will be found in:
- antenna system
- radio chassis
- radio speaker system
- radio noise suppression equipment
- super sound system
