Drainage System Check and Water Leak Corrections

Drain Hoses
Prior to performing any service, verify that the drainage system is not plugged or restricted. Use a 500 ml (1 pint) container and pour water into the roof sliding panel housing. Check the exterior of the vehicle at the rocker panels for water drainage. If the water flow is restricted, use compressed air to blow out any material in the sliding roof panel frame drain hose system. Test the system again by pouring water into the roof sliding panel housing. Service as necessary.

Sliding Roof Panel
The roof sliding panel housing has a controlled water leak at the roof weatherstrip. A properly adjusted roof glass panel should result in a snug fit between the roof weatherstrip and the roof panel around the entire opening.

Wet Headlining - Sides
If water drips from the roof headlining above the door, check to see if the sliding roof panel frame drain hoses are disconnected from the roof sliding panel housing. Apply Weatherstrip Adhesive E8AZ-19552-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M2G14-A, on the sliding roof panel frame drain hose and insert the sliding roof panel frame drain hoses into the roof sliding panel housing.

Roof Panel Overcrowned
If the roof panel is overcrowned to the contour of the roof glass panel (at the rear of the roof glass panel), this can cause wind noise or water leak conditions.

CAUTION: Excessive overbending could distort the roof panel, requiring costly metal finishing service. This procedure should be used only as a last resort.

Remove the roof glass panel from the vehicle and carefully overbend the center of the roof panel by applying downward pressure.

Roof Panel Undercrowned
A roof glass panel scratch can be caused by the rear of the roof panel being slightly undercrowned.

CAUTION: Excessive overbending could distort the roof panel, requiring costly metal finishing service. This procedure should be used only as a last resort.

Open the roof glass panel slightly and compare the contour of roof panel and roof glass panel. If the roof panel appears flattened in the center, and the glass scuffs on the underside of the roof panel, remove the roof glass panel from the vehicle and arch the roof panel by pushing up on the underside of the roof panel to increase the roof panel arch.
