Valve Train Analysis - Static

Valve Cover Removed
Check the following:

Rocker Arms
1. Visually inspect rocker arms, rocker arm shafts, and valve tappets for damage.
2. Check for plugged oil feeds in the rocker arms, rocker arm shafts, valve tappets, and cylinder head.
3. Check for loose mounting bolts on rocker arm shaft(s).

Camshaft
- Visually inspect the camshaft for pitting in the lobe area, wear, or damage.

Valve Springs
- Check for broken or damaged parts.

Valve Spring Retainer And Valve Spring Retainer Keys
- Check for proper seating of valve spring retainer keys on the valve stem and in the valve spring retainer.

Valves And Cylinder Head
1. Visually inspect the cylinder head for damage.
2. Check the head gasket for proper installation.
3. Check for plugged oil drain-back holes.
4. Check for worn or damaged valve tips.
5. Check for missing of damaged guide-mounted valve stem seals.
6. Check for missing or worn valve seats.
7. Check all oil passages for blockage.
