Instrument Panel - Support

REMOVAL
1. Remove the instrument panel.







2. Remove the LH register duct screw and the LH register duct.







3. Remove the two center duct screws and the center duct.







4. Remove the two heater outlet floor duct screws and the heater outlet floor duct.
5. Separate the electrical harness from the instrument panel support.







6. Separate the radio antenna lead in cable from the instrument panel support.
7. Remove the two ground bolts and the ground wires from the instrument panel bracket.







8. Loosen the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector bolt and disconnect the PCM electrical connector.

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

9. Remove the two PCM bolts and the PCM.
10. Remove the auto headlamp control module nut and the auto headlamp control module. Disconnect the auto headlamp control module electrical connector.
11. Loosen the Transmission Control Module (TCM) electrical connector bolt and disconnect the TCM electrical connector.
12. Remove the two TOM bolts and the TCM.







13. Remove the interior fuse junction panel screw.
14. Remove the two parking brake release cable screws.







15. Remove the indicator flasher module bracket screw.







16. Remove the heater unit housing-to-instrument panel support bolt.
17. Remove the four passenger side air bag module bracket nuts from the instrument panel support.
18. Separate the harness from the instrument panel bracket.
19. Remove the anti-lock brake control module bracket screw from the instrument panel bracket.







20. Remove the three instrument panel bracket-to-chassis nuts.







21. Remove the four instrument panel bracket bolts and remove the instrument panel bracket.
22. Remove the two LH and the two RH instrument panel lower bracket bolts and the instrument panel lower brackets.







23. Remove the two RH instrument panel Support nuts.
24. Remove the two LH instrument panel support bolts and the two nuts.







25. Remove the four instrument panel support upper bolts.
26. Remove the instrument panel support from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION







1. Install the instrument panel support. Install the four instrument panel support upper bolts and tighten to 8-11 Nm (71-97 Lb In).







2. Install the two LH instrument panel support nuts and tighten to 8-11 Nm (71-97 Lb In). Install the two RH instrument panel support bolts and tighten to 8-11 Nm (71-97 Lb In).
3. Install the two instrument panel lower brackets, the two LH and the two RH instrument panel lower bracket nuts. Tighten the instrument panel lower bracket nuts to 3.2-4.4 Nm (29-39 Lb In).







4. Install the instrument panel bracket and the four instrument panel bracket bolts. Tighten the instrument panel bracket bolts to 3.2-4.4 Nm (29-39 Lb In).







5. Install the three instrument panel bracket-to-chassis nuts. Tighten the instrument panel bracket-to-chassis nuts to 8-11 Nm (71-97 Lb In).
6. Install the anti-lock brake control module bracket screw.
7. Attach the harness to the instrument panel bracket.
8. Install the passenger side air bag module bracket and the four nuts. Tighten the passenger side air bag module bracket nuts.







9. Install the heater unit housing-to-instrument panel support bolt.







10. Install the indicator flasher module bracket screw.
11. Install the two parking brake release cable screws.







12. Install the interior fuse junction panel screw.
13. Position the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the instrument panel support and install the PCM bolts.

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.







14. Connect the PCM electrical connector and tighten the PCM electrical connector bolt until their is no gap.
15. Position the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to the instrument panel support and install the TCM bolts.
16. Connect the TCM electrical connector and tighten the TOM electrical connector bolt until their is no gap.
17. Position the ground wires to the instrument panel bracket and install the ground bolts.







18. Attach the radio antenna lead in cable to the instrument panel support.
19. Attach the electrical harness to the instrument panel support.







20. Install the heater outlet floor duct and the two heater outlet floor duct screws.







21. Install the center duct and the two center duct screws.







22. Install the LH register duct and the LH register duct screw.
23. Install the instrument panel.
