Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor detects the fluctuation of the engine revolutions and transmits a signal to the powertrain control module. This signal is used for on-board diagnosis only.

LOCATION

The CKP sensor is located on the transaxle housing facing the gear teeth of the flywheel.
