Test Notes

You should enter this pinpoint test only when directed here.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose only the following:
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
- Harness circuits: IAT, ECT
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

DESCRIPTION
The ECT sensor detects the coolant temperature, and constantly updates the PCM on the coolant's changing condition with an input signal. The PCM uses this signal to modify ignition timing, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) flow, air/fuel ratio, idle speed, and purge flow.

The IAT sensor detects the intake ambient air temperature and transmits a signal to the PCM.
