Quick Test 2.0 - Set Up
1. Connect the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to Data Link Connector (DLC).2. Vehicle and Tester Preparation
The vehicle is equipped with two data link connectors, the OBD II connector is under the left side instrument panel directly below the steering column. The interior fuse junction panel DLC is located inside the interior fuse junction panel opening. Depending on which DLC the NGS tester is connected to, determines what data can be retrieved or functions performed. Please refer to the table:
3. Prepare to run OBD II procedures.
- Gearshift lever in Park (P).
- Engine at operating temperature.
- Apply parking brake.
- Block wheels.
- Turn ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Verify that the proper program card is inserted in the NGS.
- Connect J1962/16 way DCL cable adapter to the NGS.
- Connect NGS DCL cable adapter securely into the vehicle's data link connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position or start vehicle if necessary.
NOTE: If the NGS does not communicate with the PCM, GO to Powertrain Management.
4. The NGS is ready to communicate with the PCM.
