Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation
The Transmission Range (TR) switch is located on the transaxle case. It connects to the manual shift linkage rod and detects the gear position (P, R, N, D, 2, 1). The TR switch integrates the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch. The PNP switch is utilized in the starter circuit to detect PARK (P) and NEUTRAL (N) ranges. In addition, the TR switch includes a backup lamp switch.
