Steering Gear Bushing/Preload

Raise the vehicle and support it on safety stands. Check for looseness in the steering gear by moving it up and down and left to right. If the sector shaft is excessively loose, replace the steering gear. If the steering gear is loose, check for loose brackets/bolts, improper mounting, or damaged steering gear insulators. If necessary, remove the steering gear and replace the steering gear insulators.
