Components

The anti-theft alarm system is optional and is controlled by the timer module. The body side door control unit monitors the position of the body side door for the timer module. The anti-theft alarm system cannot be activated unless both of the front doors, hood, liftgate and the body side door are securely closed. Should the body side door be opened without already disarming the anti-theft system, the body side door control unit will send a signal to the timer module to activate the anti-theft alarm system. The hood switch, door courtesy lamp switches, luggage compartment lamp switch and the body side door courtesy lamp switch monitor the open or closed status of the:

- Hood.
- Left and right front doors.
- Liftgate.
- Body side door.

Refer to Keyless Entry for description and operation of the keyless entry remote transmitter.

The hood switch is mounted on the right side of the engine compartment and contacts the hood when the hood is closed.
The anti-theft alarm (SECURITY) indicator is located in the LH instrument panel finish panel below the hazard warning flasher switch. The anti-theft alarm indicator will be in one of the four conditions:
- Off: indicates that the anti-theft alarm system is either not activated or has been disarmed.
- Flashing for 0.5 second on/0.5 second off: indicates that at least one of the front doors, liftgate or body side door has been opened.
- On: indicates phase one of the arming sequence, lasting for 30 seconds.
- Flashing (0.2 second on/2.4 seconds off): indicates phase two of the arming sequence that the antitheft alarm system is fully armed.
