System Arming

With the ignition in the OFF position and the key removed, there are three ways to arm the antitheft alarm system:
1. When exiting the vehicle, lock the vehicle using the door lock switch located on the front door armrest, being sure to close both front doors, body side door, liftgate and the hood.
2. With both front doors, body side door, liftgate and the hood closed, lock the vehicle with the key.
3. With both front doors, body side door, liftgate and the hood closed, lock the vehicle with the keyless entry remote transmitter, the horn will honk once and the hazard flashers will flash twice to confirm system arming.

When the anti-theft alarm system is armed it goes through two phases:

- Phase one occurs during the first 30 seconds after the system is armed. The anti-theft alarm indicator (SECURITY) will illuminate for the 30 second time period. If the vehicle is entered and then exited following one of the three arming procedures then the 30 second phase will restart for another full 30 seconds.
- Phase two follows immediately after phase one and the anti-theft alarm system is fully armed. The antitheft alarm indicator will flash 0.2 seconds ON and 2.4 seconds OFF.
