Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify customer concern by driving the vehicle.
2. Visually inspect the components of the anti-lock brake system (ABS).
Mechanical
- Low brake fluid
- Damaged brake anti-lock sensor
- Damaged hydraulic anti-lock actuator assembly
- Damaged hydraulic brake line(s)
- Damaged wheel bearing
Electrical
- Blown fuse(s):
- 10A ELECTRON (IGN)
- 15A STOP LAMP
- 10A RELAYS
- 20A ABS
- 30A ABS
- Blown anti-lock brake warning indicator miniature bulb
- Damaged wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connections
- Damaged or corroded relays

3. Check the hydraulic brake lines for fluid leaks.
4. Check for problems in other areas that may affect the ABS, such as:
- Suspension and steering components.
- Tire integrity and air pressure.
- Wheel bearings.
- Brake components that are common to all brake systems.

5. Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections, or damage.
