Disc Brake System: Description and Operation

The front disc brake system includes:
- Front brake pads and linings
- Front disc brake calipers
- Stainless steel locating pins
- Front disc brake rotors
- Front brake hoses
- Brake caliper bolts

The front disc brake caliper slides on two stainless steel locating pins.

The front disc brakes use a pin slider-type front disc brake caliper with a 276.225 mm (10.875 inches) front disc brake rotor. The front disc brake caliper is attached to the front suspension with two Torch head brake caliper bolts. Rubber insulators isolate the stainless steel locating pins from direct contact with the front disc brake caliper.

The inboard front brake pad and lining is equipped with a wear indicator. The indicator contacts the front disc brake rotor and makes a squealing noise when the brake pads and linings are worn. The noise is a warning to vehicle owners that the brakes need service before any damage occurs to the front disc brake rotor.

The front disc brake caliper must be removed to replace the front brake pads and linings.
