Brakes and Traction Control: Service Precautions

1. Do not allow grease or any other foreign material on brake lining surfaces and braking surfaces of the front disc brake rotor and external surfaces of the wheel hub during service operation. In handling the front disc brake rotor and front disc brake caliper assemblies, do not damage the front disc brake rotor or brake pad and lining.
2. During front disc brake caliper disassembly and assembly, protect the plastic piston from contact with any metal or sharp objects.

CAUTION: Do not pry on a plastic piston with a screwdriver or other tools.

3. During removal and installation of a wheel and tire assembly, do not damage the front disc brake rotor shield or bleeder screw.
4. Make sure the vehicle is centered on the hoist before servicing any front end components to avoid bending or damaging the front disc brake rotor shield on full right or left wheel turns.
5. Do not attempt to clean or restore oil or grease-soaked brake linings. When contaminated brake linings are found, replace the brake linings in complete axle sets. Wipe the front disc brake rotor braking surfaces clean.
