Compressor

REMOVAL

NOTE: Whenever the A/C compressor is replaced, the suction accumulator/drier and A/C evaporator core orifice should also be replaced. If the vehicle is equipped with auxiliary A/C, the auxiliary A/C evaporator filter must also be replaced.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the A/C compressor manifold bolt. Position the A/C compressor manifold and tube aside.
3. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt.
4. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

5. Disconnect the A/C clutch electrical connector.

6. Remove the four A/C compressor bolts.

NOTE: The upper A/C compressor bolts are too long to remove from the A/C compressor. Remove them once the A/C compressor is removed.

7. Remove the A/C compressor.

8. Remove the A/C compressor manifold O-rings from the A/C compressor and discard.

INSTALLATION
1. If installing a new A/C compressor, add the proper amount of refrigerant oil.
2. Install new O-rings lubricated with clean refrigerant oil in the A/C compressor.
3. Position the A/C compressor and install the A/C compressor bolts. Tighten the A/C compressor bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft lb).
4. Connect the A/C clutch electrical connector.
5. Position the A/C compressor manifold and install the A/C compressor manifold bolt. Tighten the A/C compressor manifold bolt to 18-23 Nm (13-17 ft lb).
6. Install the A/C compressor drive belt and check for proper tension.
7. Connect the battery ground cable.
8. Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
