Heater Control Valve: Description and Operation
WITH AUXILIARY A/CThe heater water control valve is located in the engine compartment where the rear heater pipes split from the front heater pipes. The heater water control valve controls the flow of coolant to the rear heater core. Control of the coolant is needed to avoid unnecessary coolant flow to the rear heating system when it is not in use. The heater water control valve is controlled by vacuum from the heater water control solenoid.
The valve is completely closed at the full COOL position and opens when the temperature control is moved toward the full WARM position.
