A/C Heater System Deodorizing

^ THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED IN WELL-VENTILATED AREAS. OPEN ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS OF THE VEHICLE. LEAVE DOORS AND WINDOWS OPEN DURING THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE. AVOID BREATHING VAPORS.

^ READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS PACKAGED WITH THE DEODORIZER.

Musty odors may come from the air conditioner and heater system. This odor is caused by fungi growth in the A/C evaporator core. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned on. A deodorizer which encapsulates the fungi growth is available to reduce these odors.

Apply the Walex A/C deodorizer product or equivalent meeting Ford specification to the A/C system as directed in this service procedure.
1. Place the climate control assembly to the NORM A/C position.
2. With the blower motor operating in high speed, spray 89 ml (3 oz) of the deodorizer product into the fresh air inlet.
3. Set the climate control assembly to the MAX A/C position. Position the A/C temperature control to the coldest setting available.
4. With the blower motor operating in high speed proceed as follows:
a. Spray 44 ml (1.5 oz) of the deodorizer product into the recirculate air opening.
b. Set the A/C temperature control to provide full heat.
c. Spray an additional 44 ml (1.5 oz) of the deodorizer product into the recirculate air opening.
5. Shut the blower motor off.
6. Spray equal amounts of the remaining 118 ml (4 oz) of the deodorizer product into each of the air outlet openings (defroster, A/C registers, and heater outlet floor ducts).
7. Allow the vehicle to sit for about 30 minutes before returning it to the customer.
