Refrigerant-134a Systems

In an effort to avoid the use of Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants that may harm the ozone layer of the atmosphere, this refrigerant system is a non-CFC based refrigerant known as R-134a. The R-134a is a Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant. Because of the absence of chlorine in its molecular structure, R-134a refrigerant will not have any harmful effects on the ozone layer.

R-134a systems require the use of special servicing equipment designed specifically for R-134a systems. Do not use R-12 special tools and equipment when servicing an R-134a system. Doing so may cause damage to the R-134a refrigerant system.
