Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT 10 MINUTES.
2. Remove the access cover from the bottom of the steering wheel and disconnect the driver side air bag module electrical connector.
3. Open the glove compartment, then pull the access panel from the top of the glove compartment. Disconnect the passenger side air bag module electrical connector.
4. Remove the four console compartment plastic screws or C/D changer cover plastic screws (if equipped) and the console compartment door or C/D changer cover.
5. Remove the two LH inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut.
6. Remove LH inner instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the foot lamp electrical connector.
7. Remove the two RH inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut.
8. Remove RH inner instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the foot lamp electrical connector.
9. Remove the plastic screw, two lower screws, two center bolts, two upper screws and the screw at the instrument panel bracket, then separate the glove compartment from the instrument panel. Disconnect the glove compartment striker plate catch electrical connector.
10. Remove the two instrument panel to passenger side air bag module bracket bolts.
11. Remove the four passenger side air bag module nuts and the passenger side air bag module.
12. Remove the RH instrument panel screw.
13. Remove the four C/D changer screws.
14. Remove the C/D changer and disconnect the C/D changer electrical connector.
15. Remove the instrument panel ash receptacle.
16. Remove the two upper center instrument panel finish panel screws and the two lower center instrument panel finish panel screws.
17. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel and disconnect the cigar lighter socket and the cigar lighter illumination lamp electrical connectors.
18. Remove the two instrument panel ash receptacle bracket screws and the instrument panel ash receptacle bracket. Disconnect the instrument panel ash receptacle lamp electrical connector.
19. Carefully pry the center A/C register from the instrument panel.
20. Remove the hose from the ambient temperature sensor and disconnect the ambient temperature sensor electrical connector (if equipped).
21. Remove the four radio chassis bracket screws and pull the radio chassis and climate control assembly from the instrument panel.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
22. Disconnect the three radio chassis electrical connectors, the antenna lead, the three climate control electrical connectors and remove the radio chassis and climate control assembly.
23. Remove the plastic screw, the two instrument panel steering column cover screws and the instrument panel steering column cover.
24. Remove the four LH instrument panel reinforcement bolts and the LH instrument panel reinforcement. Disconnect the diagnostic electrical connector.
25. Remove the instrument cluster.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
26. Remove the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) antenna connectors from the instrument panel.
27. Disconnect the seat belt warning chime electrical connector. Remove the two seat belt warning chime screws and the seat belt warning chime.
28. Remove the four steering column nuts and lower the steering column assembly.
29. Remove the two LH instrument panel screws.
30. Remove the center instrument panel screw.
31. Remove the LH inner duct screw and the LH inner duct.
32. Disconnect the power outside rear view mirror control switch electrical connector.
33. Pull off the upper portion of the LH inner door opening weatherstrip. Remove the windshield side garnish moulding.
34. Pull off the upper portion of the RH inner door opening weatherstrip. Remove the windshield side garnish moulding.
35. Remove the instrument panel upper moulding and disconnect the sun sensor electrical connector (if equipped).
36. Remove the light sensor amplifier from the top right side of the instrument panel and disconnect both light sensor amplifier upper and lower electrical connectors (if equipped).
37. Remove the instrument panel center nut.
38. Remove the two instrument panel upper bolts.
39. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the instrument panel to the vehicle.
2. Install the instrument panel upper bolts and tighten to 3.2-4.4 N.m (29-39 Lb-In).
3. Install the instrument panel center nut. Tighten the instrument panel center nut to 3.2-4.4 N.m (29-39 Lb-In).
4. Connect both light sensor amplifier upper and lower electrical connectors. Install the light sensor amplifier, if equipped.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
5. Connect the sun sensor electrical connector (if equipped) and install the instrument panel upper moulding.
6. Install the RH windshield side garnish moulding.
7. Position the RH inner door opening weatherstrip and install.
8. Install the LH windshield side garnish moulding.
9. Position the LH inner door opening weatherstrip and install.
10. Connect the power outside rear view mirror control switch electrical connector.
11. Install the LH inner duct screw and the LH inner duct.
12. Install the center instrument panel screw.
13. Install the two LH instrument panel screws.
14. Position the steering column and install the four steering column nuts. Tighten the steering column nuts to 15-19 N.m (11-14 Lb-Ft).
15. Position the safety belt warning chime and install the two safety belt warning chime screws.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
16. Install the remote keyless entry (RKE) antenna connectors to the instrument panel.
17. Install the instrument cluster.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
18. Position the LH instrument panel brace and install and tighten the four instrument panel bolts.
19. Install the diagnostic electrical connector onto the instrument panel brace.
20. Install the instrument panel steering column cover, the two instrument panel steering column cover screws and the plastic screw.
21. Connect the three radio chassis electrical connectors, the antenna lead, and the three climate control electrical connectors.

22. Position the radio chassis and climate control assembly into the instrument panel and install and tighten the four radio chassis bracket screws.
23. Connect the ambient temperature sensor electrical connector and install the ambient temperature sensor hose.
24. Install the center A/C register into the instrument panel.
25. Connect the instrument panel ash receptacle lamp electrical connector and install the instrument panel ash receptacle bracket. Tighten the two instrument panel ash receptacle screws.
26. Connect the cigar lighter socket and cigar illumination lamp electrical connectors and install the center instrument panel finish panel.
27. Install and tighten the upper and lower center instrument panel finish panel screws.
28. Install the instrument panel ash receptacle.
29. Connect the C/D electrical connector and position the C/D changer on the C/D bracket. Install and tighten the C/D changer screws, if equipped.
30. Install the RH instrument panel screw.
31. Position the passenger side air bag module into the instrument panel and install the four passenger side air bag module nuts. Tighten the passenger side air bag module nuts.
32. Install and tighten the two instrument panel to passenger side air bag module bracket bolts.
33. Position the glove compartment on the instrument panel and install and tighten the plastic screw, two lower screws, two center bolts, two upper screws, and the screw at the instrument panel bracket. Connect the glove compartment striker catch plate electrical connector.
34. Install the RH inner instrument panel lower cover, the two RH inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut. Tighten the RH inner instrument panel lower cover screws to 2.6-3.6 N.m (23-32 Lb-In). Connect the foot lamp electrical connector, if equipped.
35. Install the LH inner instrument panel lower cover, the two LH inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut. Tighten the LH inner instrument panel lower cover screws to 2.6-3.6 N.m (23-32 Lb-In). Connect the foot lamp electrical connector, if equipped.
36. Install the console compartment door or C/D changer cover (if equipped) and the four plastic console compartment door screws.
37. Connect the passenger side air bag module electrical connector and install the access panel.
38. Connect the driver side air bag module electrical connector and install the access panel.
39. Connect the battery ground cable.
