Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators: Description and Operation

Instrument Cluster and Panel Lighting
The instrument cluster, the instrument panel, and the individual switches mounted on the instrument panel are illuminated by individual miniature bulbs or illumination lamps. These miniature bulbs and illumination lamps are activated when the headlamp switch is switched to either the parking lamp position or the headlamp position. All instrument cluster and switch lighting brightness (intensity) is controlled by the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor located on the instrument panel.

Illumination of the instrument cluster, instrument panel, and instrument panel mounted switches includes the following:
- Instrument cluster miniature bulbs
- Ash receptacle miniature bulb
- Climate control assembly miniature bulb
- Heated back window switch and light illumination lamp
- Autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor assembly miniature bulb
- Audio system function buttons
- Rear window wiper/washer switch illumination lamp
- Emergency warning switch illumination lamp
- Message center control assembly switch module miniature bulbs
- Speed control actuator switch illumination lamp
- Headlamp switch miniature bulbs
- Cigar lighter illumination lamp
