Turn Signals: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the steering wheel.

WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY STEERING COLUMN OR AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT TEN MINUTES.

2. Match mark and tape in place the inner and outer elements of the air bag sliding contact.





3. Remove the three air bag sliding contact screws.





4. Pull the air bag sliding contact off of the steering column shaft and position it out of the way.





5. Remove the turn indicator cancel cam from the steering column shaft by pushing up with a screwdriver.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the turn indicator cancel cam with the flush surface up.
2. Install the air bag sliding contact onto the steering column shaft aligning the match marks made during removal.

NOTE: If the air bag sliding contact inner and outer elements are misaligned, adjust the air bag sliding contact.

3. Install the three air bag sliding contact screws.
4. Remove the tape from the air bag sliding contact.
5. Install the steering wheel.
