Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor detects the fluctuation of the engine revolutions and transmits a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This signal is used for on-board diagnosis only. The CKP sensor is located on the transaxle housing facing the gear teeth of the flywheel.
