With New Generation Star (NGS) Tester






1. Connect Rotunda New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester 418-F048 (007-00500), or equivalent, to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located under the LH side of the instrument cluster below the interior fuse junction panel.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Select VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION.
4. Select SELECT NEW VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL.
5. Select 1998-VIN #10W.
6. Select 98 Villager 3.0L.
7. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK mode.
8. Select PCM - POWERTRAIN CTRL MODULE.
9. Select WORK SUPPORT mode.
10. Select THROTTLE SENSOR ADJUST.
11. Press TRIGGER TO START.
12. Check that the output voltage of the Throttle Position sensor (TP sensor) with the throttle valve fully closed is between 0.4-0.5 volts and that the idle position stays ON.
13. The output voltage of the TP sensor with the throttle valve fully open should be 4 volts.
14. If the voltage is incorrect, adjust the TP sensor as follows:
a. Loosen but do not remove the TP sensor screws.







b. Adjust the output voltage by moving the TP sensor fore/aft.
c. Tighten the TP sensor screws to 2.0-2.4 Nm (17-21 lb in).
d. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector for a few seconds, then connect it.
e. Ensure that the idle position is ON.
15. Turn OFF the engine.
16. Disconnect the Rotunda NGS Tester 418-F048 (007-00500), or equivalent, from the DLC.
