Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments

1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the six engine and transmission splash shield bolts, the engine and transmission splash shield screw and the engine and transmission splash shield.





3. Remove the shift cable and bracket nut and the shift cable and bracket from the manual shift linkage rod.

NOTE: The shift cable and bracket is removed from the manual shift linkage rod to ensure accurate adjustment of the Transmission Range (TR) switch.

4. Place the manual shift linkage rod in the NEUTRAL (N) position.
5. Loosen the three TR switch bolts.





6. Insert Gear Position Sensor Adjuster 307-250 (T92P-7001O-CH) between the alignment holes in the TR switch and the manual shift linkage rod.

NOTE: The manual shift linkage rod must remain in position. To adjust, move the TR switch only.

7. Tighten the three TR switch bolts to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.).
8. Position the shift cable and bracket on the manual shift linkage rod. Install the transmission shift cable and bracket nut and tighten it securely.
9. Position the engine and transmission splash shield on the vehicle and install the six engine and transmission splash shield bolts and the engine and transmission splash shield screw.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Verify that the engine will crank with the gearshift lever in PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N) only. If necessary, adjust the shift cable.
