Fuel Injector: Description and Operation

The fuel injectors are electronically controlled solenoid valves that control fuel flow to the engine. The fuel injectors are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the fuel pressure regulator. As the PCM sends signals to the fuel injector, the coil in the fuel injector pulls back a ball and fuel is released into the intake manifold through the nozzle. The injected fuel is controlled by the PCM in terms of injection pulse duration. These fuel injectors are side feed type fuel injectors.
