Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the fuel tank.
2. Clean the area of the fuel tank that surrounds the fuel level sensor and fuel pump.







3. Remove the six fuel pump bolts.
4. Lift the fuel level sensor and fuel pump from the fuel tank.

CAUTION: The fuel level sensor and fuel pump must be tipped to be removed from the fuel tank. Do not lift the fuel level sensor and fuel pump straight out of the fuel tank, or damage to the fuel level sensor may occur.

5. Remove the two fuel level sensor bolts and separate the fuel level sensor from the fuel pump.
6. Remove and discard the fuel pump gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump and bracket and install the two fuel level sensor bolts.
2. Install a new fuel level sensor gasket.
3. Carefully install the fuel level sensor and fuel pump.
4. Install the six fuel level sensor and fuel pump bolts. Tighten the fuel pump bolts to 2.0-2.4 Nm (18-21 lb in).
5. Install the fuel tank.
