Without New Generation Star (NGS) Tester
1. Remove the air cleaner to intake manifold tube.2. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
4. Connect Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051, or equivalent, between the TP sensor electrical connector and ground as shown.
5. Turn the throttle lever to the wide open throttle position and check the reading on the volt-ohmmeter. The resistance should be approximately 4 K ohms.
6. Turn the throttle lever to the fully closed position. The resistance should be between 0.4-0.5 K ohms.
7. If the resistances are not within the above specifications, adjust the TP sensor as follows:
a. Loosen, but do not remove, the TP sensor screws.
b. With the throttle body in the closed position, adjust the TP sensor until the volt-ohmmeter reads between 0.4-0.5 K ohms.
c. Turn the throttle lever to the wide open position and check the resistance. The resistance reading should be 4 K ohms. If the resistance cannot be adjusted to specification, replace the TP sensor and repeat this procedure on the new unit.
d. After the TP sensor resistance readings meet the specification, tighten the TP sensor screws to 2.0-2.4 Nm (17-21 lb in).
8. Install the air cleaner to intake manifold tube.
9. Connect the TP sensor electrical connectors.
