Brake Switch - TCC: Description and Operation

The Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch is located on the brake pedal. Power is supplied to the BPP switch with the ignition switch in the ON or START position. When the brake pedal is depressed, the BPP switch de-energizes the shift lock actuator, allowing the shift control selector lever and the Transmission Range (TR) switch to be moved out of the PARK (P) range. During braking, the BPP switch signals the transmission control module which will disengage the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC), if the TCC is engaged.
