Engine Control Module: Description and Operation

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects the engine operation, driving conditions and the exhaust gas oxygen content from various switches, sensors, and components. The PCM uses this information to control the amount of fuel injected into the engine. The PCM also controls the exhaust gas recirculation, idle speed control and deceleration systems. The PCM is located behind the glove compartment.
