Seat Belt Systems: Description and Operation
The active restraint system includes:- Three-point combination lap/shoulder belts for the front seats, outboard second and third row bench seats and for the second row bucket seats (if equipped).
- A manual lap belt for the three passenger bench seat (middle passenger).
Safety belts should always be worn by the driver and passenger(s). The active restraint system of each seating position has:
- Front safety belt buckle end
- Safety belt tongue
- Continuous safety belt
- Locking retractor mechanism
- Safety belt guide
- Anchor hardware
The safety belt system allows freedom of movement and locking on hard braking, hard cornering, or impacts of approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. The RH front safety belt retractor and tongue and the rear safety belt retractor and tongues can also be locked in the automatic locking mode for child seat installation.
