Backup Lamp Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect the Transmission Range (TR) switch C161 located on top of the transaxle.
2. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 7 of the TR switch with the gearshift lever in the following positions:

Connector Shown From Component Side:

Gearshift Lever Position Resistance
PARK (P) Greater than 10,000 ohms
REVERSE (R) Less than 5 ohms
NEUTRAL (N) Greater than 10,000 ohms
DRIVE (D) Greater than 10,000 ohms
SECOND (2) Greater than 10,000 ohms
FIRST(1) Greater than 10,000 ohms

3. If the resistances are not as specified, replace the TR switch. Otherwise, return to the Pinpoint Tests.
