Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock Sensor






Removal
1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Disconnect the heater core hose from the coolant tube.
a. Release the clamp.
b. Disconnect the hose.




3. Release the clamp and remove the lower radiator hose from the coolant tube.






4. Remove the water bypass hose from the thermostat housing
a. Release the clamp.
b. Remove the hose.






5. Remove the coolant crossover tube.
a. Remove the bolt
b. Remove the tube.






6. Remove the knock sensor (KS).
a. Disconnect the electrical connector.
b. Remove the bolt.

Installation







1. Install the knock sensor and bolt. Connect the electrical connector.






2. Install the coolant crossover tube.
a. Position the coolant crossover tube.
b. Install the bolt.






3. Install the water bypass hose.
a. Position the Hose.
b. Position the clamp.






4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the coolant crossover tube and position the clamp.






5. Connect the heater core hose to the coolant crossover tube.
a. Connect the tube.
b. Position the clamp.
