Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT TEN MINUTES.

2. Remove the steering wheel.





3. Remove the two screws from the lower steering column shrouds and remove the upper and lower shroud.
4. Chisel out the ignition lock bolts to remove.
5. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector. Remove the ignition switch from the steering column.





INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Tighten the ignition housing bolts until the heads break off.
