Steering Column: Description and Operation

The steering column connects the steering wheel to the lower steering column shaft, which connects to the steering gear. The steering column is supported by four nuts. The steering column houses and/or is attached to the components seen in the illustration.

The tilt steering column and the steering wheel, provide a mount for:
^ Gearshift Lever
^ Driver side air bag module
^ Multi-function switch
^ Ignition switch
Shift lock actuator
Horn blow switch
Speed control switch assembly (if equipped)
