Inspection

1. Check for damaged or worn gears.
2. Check for a cracked or damaged differential case.





3. Place Differential Rotator 307-252 (T92P-77000-BH) and Dial Indicator with Bracketry 100-002 (TOOL-4201-C) or equivalent, as shown.








4. Move the differential side gear up and down to measure the differential side gear deflection. The clearance should measure 0.1 - 0.2 mm (0.004 - 0.008 inch).

NOTE: Always measure the deflection of both differential side gears.

5. If the clearance is not within specifications, change the thickness of the differential side gear thrust washers.
