P0500 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit is monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The test fails when the almost 0 kph (0 MPH) signal from the vehicle speed sensor is sent to the PCM even when the vehicle is moving.

Possible Causes:
- VSS circuit shorted or open
- VSS

Diagnostic Aids:
Drive the vehicle, the VSS PID rise should agree with the speedometer.
