P0725 - Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

The Clean Tachometer Output (CTO) circuit from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is monitored by the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The test fails when the TCM does not receive a proper voltage signal from the PCM.

Possible Causes:
- The CTO circuit is open
- The CTO circuit is shorted to VPWR
- The CTO circuit is shorted to GND
- The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor circuit is open
- The CMP sensor circuit is shorted to VPWR
- The CMP sensor circuit is shorted to GND

Diagnostic Aids:
The RPM PID should increases as the throttle pedal is slowly depressed while the engine is running.
