P1402 - EGR System High Flow Rate

The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, EGR temperature sensor, ignition switch, and Throttle Position (TP) sensor circuits are monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The test fails when the Exhaust Gas Recalculation (EGR) flow is excessively high during the specified driving condition.

Possible Causes:
- EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve
- EGR valve leaking or stuck open
- EGR temperature sensor
- EGR control system modulator valve

Diagnostic Aids:
With the key ON and engine running at idle there should not be any vacuum applied to the EGR valve.
