Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the speed control system.WARNING: If the speed control system goes out of control or over speeds during the road test, be prepared to turn off the system with the speed control actuator switch (cruise off) or the ignition switch.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Refer to the Visual Inspection Chart:

Mechanical
^ Speed control actuator
^ Speed control actuator cable adjustment
^ Speed control actuator cable damaged or binding
^ Vacuum leaks at speed control actuator cable
^ Misadjusted or damaged brake pedal
Electrical
^ Battery Junction Box (BJB) Fuse:
- F13 (15A)
^ Central Junction Box (CJB) Fuse:
- F37 (10A)
- F51 (15A)
- F59 (7.5A)
^ Deactivator switch
^ Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch
^ Speed control actuator module
^ Speed control indicator
^ Speed control actuator switch
^ Relays
^ Loose or corroded connections
^ Wiring harness
3. Check the horns for correct operation. If the horns do not operate correctly, REPAIR and TEST the system for normal operation.
4. Check the stop lamps for correct operation. If the stop lamps do not operate correctly, REPAIR and TEST the system for normal operation.
5. Check the speedometer for correct operation. If the speedometer does not operate correctly, REPAIR and TEST the system for normal operation.
6. If the fault is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
