Engine Off

1. Remove the valve cover.
2. Visually inspect for damage:
3. Check for plugged oil feeds:
- rocker arms.
- rocker arm shafts.
- valve tappets.
- cylinder head.
4. Check for loose mounting bolts on rocker arm shaft(s).
5. Visually inspect the camshaft for:
- pitting in the lobe area.
- wear or damage.
6. Check for broken or damaged valve springs.
7. Check for proper seating of valve spring retainer keys on the valve stem and in the valve spring retainer.
8. Visually inspect the cylinder head for damage.
9. Check the head gasket for proper installation.
10. Check for plugged oil drain-back holes.
11. Check for worn or damaged valve tips.
12. Check for missing or damaged guide-mounted valve stem seals.
13. Check for missing or worn valve seats.
