General Description
The Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) system consists of a Sequential Multiport Fuel Injection (SFI) system classified as a multi-point, pulse time, mass air flow fuel injection system. The system is used to control fuel economy, engine driveability, and optimize emissions. The electronic engine controls system consists of the following components:
^ Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor
^ Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
^ Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch
^ Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
^ Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
^ Throttle Position (TP) sensor
^ Idle Air Control (IAC)
^ fast idle control solenoid
^ Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
^ Manifold Pressure (MAP) sensor
^ Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor
^ synchronizer MAP/BARO solenoid
^ Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
^ Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
^ heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) (upstream)
^ heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) (downstream)
^ Knock Sensor (KS)
^ fuel temperature sensor
