Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING:
^ DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND CAN BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
^ FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAIN UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
^ BEFORE WORKING ON OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED.


1. Relieve the fuel pressure.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.

NOTE: For rear fuel injector removal, remove the upper intake.







4. Remove the air tube screws and hose clamps.







5. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and position the fuel injector harness aside.







6. Remove the fuel injector(s).
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the fuel injector(s).

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
^ Make sure to install a new O-ring on each fuel injector that was removed.
