Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder-Non-Functional Lock

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Remove the upper and lower steering column shroud,
^ Remove the steering column shroud screws.





3. Remove the ignition lock bolts by grooving the heads of the break-away bolts with a hammer and chisel.





4. Remove the key-in-reminder switch.
^ Remove the two screws.





5. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
^ Place a 3 mm (1/8 inch) diameter wire pin or small drift in the access hole in the lock housing under the ignition switch lock cylinder. Depress the retaining pin while pulling on the ignition switch lock cylinder.

NOTE: When removing the ignition switch lock cylinder a small tension spring will pop out from the beneath of the cylinder rod.

NOTE: Steering wheel removed for clarity.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Verify ignition switch lock cylinder operation.

NOTE: Position the ignition switch lock cylinder with the key in the ON position in the lock housing.

NOTE: Tighten the ignition lock bolts down until the heads break off.
