Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify the customer concern by checking the air bag indicator in the instrument cluster. Refer to Prove Out.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage using the following chart.

Visual Inspection Chart

Mechanical
- Damaged air bag diagnostic monitor bracket

Electrical
- Blown fuse
- Damaged wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connectors
- Circuitry open or shorted
- Damaged shorting bars

3. If the concern is not visually evident, enter the system Diagnosis Mode. Diagnosis Mode
4. If no DTCs are displayed in the Diagnosis Mode, proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
5. If DTCs are retrieved, proceed to the Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Fault Code Table.
