P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction

The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid valve circuit is monitored by the TCM for circuit voltage drop. The test fails when the TCM detects an improper voltage drop when it tries to operate the solenoid.

Possible Causes:
^ The TCC solenoid valve circuit is open
^ The TCC solenoid valve circuit is shorted to VPWR
^ The TCC solenoid valve circuit is shorted to GND
^ The TCC solenoid valve

Diagnostic Aids:
The resistance across the torque converter clutch solenoid should be approximately 10 - 16 ohms. With battery voltage applied to the TCC solenoid harness connector terminal a clicking sound should be heard.
