Output Shaft and Bearing Retainer





Special Tool(s)

Disassembly

1. NOTE: Do not remove the output shaft bearing unless it must be replaced.

NOTE: The bearing may be damaged when removed.

Inspect the output shaft bearing. If the bearing shows signs of excessive wear or damage, remove the bearing.





2. Remove the output shaft seals.
3. Inspect the output shaft and gear for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.





4. Remove the output shaft bearing retainer seals.





5. Remove the output shaft rear bearing retainer snap ring.





6. Using the special tools, remove the output shaft bearing from the output shaft bearing retainer.





7. Install new seals on the output shaft.





8. Measure the clearance between the output shaft seal and the output shaft. Standard clearance is 0.10 - 0.25 mm (0.0039 inch) (0.0098 inch). If the measured clearance is above specification, install a new input shaft.





9. Remove the output shaft seals.





10. Install new seals on the output shaft bearing retainer.





11. Measure the clearance between the output shaft bearing retainer seal and the output shaft bearing retainer. Standard clearance is 0.10 - 0.30 mm (0.0039 inch) - (0.0118 inch). If the measured clearance is above specification, install a new output shaft bearing retainer.





12. Remove the output shaft bearing retainer seals.

Assembly





1. Install new seals on the output shaft.
^ Coat the output shaft seal ring grooves with petroleum jelly.
2. Wrap the output shaft seals to prevent them from expanding.





3. If removed, use the special tools to press the bearing onto the output shaft.





4. Install the output shaft bearing into the output shaft bearing retainer.





5. Install new seals on the output shaft bearing retainer.
^ Coat the bearing retainer seal ring grooves with petroleum jelly.
6. Wrap the bearing retainer seal to prevent it from expanding.
