Lower ArmRemoval and Installation
1. For reference during the installation procedure, measure the distance from the lip of the fender to the center of the wheel hub with the vehicle in a level static ground position.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove the nuts.
^ Discard the nuts.
4. Remove the nut and the stabilizer bar connecting link.
^ Discard the nut.
5. Remove the bolt, flag nut and the spring and shock assembly.
^ Discard the flag nut.
6. Remove and discard the cotter pin and the nut.
7. CAUTION: Do not use a hammer to separate the ball joint from the wheel knuckle or damage to the wheel knuckle will result.
CAUTION: Do not damage the ball joint boot while installing the special tool.
Using the special tool, separate the ball joint from the wheel knuckle
8. Remove and discard the nuts.
9. Remove the nut and flag bolt.
^ Discard the nut.
10. NOTE: On 4x4 vehicles, make sure that the crimped area of the outer CV boot clamp is not positioned downward or it will interfere with the removal of the arm.
Remove the lower arm.
11. NOTE: Using a suitable jack stand, raise the suspension until the distance between the lip of the fender and the center of the wheel hub is equal to the measurement taken in the removal procedure before tightening the inboard lower arm mountings. Make sure that the forward mounting is tightened first.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
12. Check and, if necessary, align the front end.
