Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove the driver air bag module.
2. Remove the passenger air bag module.







3. Remove the screws and the instrument panel steering column cover.







4. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the instrument panel to body harness bulkhead electrical connector.







5. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the bulkhead electrical connectors.







6. Disconnect the pedal control harness electrical connector.







7. Remove the screws and position the parking brake release handle bracket aside.







8. Remove the screws and the lower steering column cover.







9. If equipped, disconnect the shift cable from the steering column.







10. If equipped, release the shift cable from the steering column bracket.







11. Remove the pinch bolt and disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering column shaft.
12. Remove the floor console.







13. Position the wiring harness aside.
1 Remove the ground wire bolts.
2 Disconnect the electrical connectors.







14. Remove the two instrument panel center support brackets.
1 Remove the four bolts.
2 Remove the four nuts.







15. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector and the two electrical connectors.

NOTE: This step is carried out through the glove compartment opening.







16. Disconnect the radio antenna in-line connector.
17. Raise the glove compartment door.







18. Remove the passenger front door scuff plate.







19. Remove the pin-type retainer and the passenger A-pillar lower trim panel.







20. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the bulkhead electrical connector.







21. Remove the ground wire bolts and disconnect the electrical connectors.







22. Remove the passenger assist handle covers.







23. Remove the bolts and the passenger assist handle.







24. Remove the two windshield side garnish mouldings.







25. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
- If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.







26. Remove the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
27. Remove the cowl grille.







28. From inside the engine compartment, remove the instrument panel support bolt.







29. Remove the two instrument panel side finish panels.







30. Remove four instrument panel cowl side bolts.
31. Remove the instrument panel.

NOTE: This step may require an assistant.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
