Liftgate

REMOVAL
1. Rotate the instrument pane dimmer switch to the position where the interior lighting is off with the doors open.






2. Remove the upper interior trim panel.







3. Remove the D-pillar trim panel.

NOTE: Left side shown, Right side similar.







4. Remove the rear garment hangers by opening the center cover, inserting a screwdriver and rotating clockwise.

5. Position the headliner to access and disconnect the two electrical connectors.







6. Position the headliner to access and disconnect the rear washer hose.







7. Disconnect the hydraulic lift from each side of the liftgate and position aside.

CAUTION: Support the liftgate prior to disconnecting the hydraulic lifts.

8. With a wax pencil mark the position of each hinge on the liftgate to aid in installation.

NOTE: Right side shown, left side similar.

9. Loosen the hinge bolts to the liftgate.







10. Remove the hinge bolts leaving one bolt loosely in place on each side.

NOTE: Removal of the liftgate will require the aid of an assistant.

11. With the aid of an assistant, remove the remaining hinge bolts and the liftgate.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: Hinge fasteners are a self-tapping design. To minimize the possibility of cross-threading, hand start all fasteners during Installation.
